I decided to represent immigration as butterflies and a person because the butterflies will symbolize freedom and dreams. I wanted the main focus to be on the person holding a butterfly to show how people are holding onto their dreams. I did this by drawing the butterflies towards the person instead of away. The colors I chose were different shades of orange and yellow. I wanted the darker orange, almost brown, to represent the dirt and hard work that immigrants have done. The yellow bits represent the bright side and further emphasizes their dreams.

For my first piece, there was a lot of empty space, so I tried to continue the pattern I started. This keeps the rhythm that I had started and allows the viewer to know what comes next. I chose to spread out the circles more for my second piece to emphasize the circle in the center more and create a sense of unity. For my last piece, I made sure that the person on the ledge was not too close to the edge that it created a sense of danger. I also reduced the size of the stars to put more emphasis on the person.
